We are a research-based multidisciplinary design studio co-founded in 2020 by Italian designer Simone Colombo and Chinese designer Huijing Wu, undertaking residential and interior projects from around the world.

The studio’s unique creativity stems from the dynamic convergence of Eastern and Western cultures and thoughts, dedicated to exploring the ecological, historical, political, and social forces that shape contemporary design disciplines. They respect tradition while imbuing their designs with rich narratives, symbols, and associations.

STUDIO SHAKESHAKE not only focuses on the balance between form and function but also delves deeper into the potential of materials and the expressive power of spaces. They incorporate experimental materials and innovative craftsmanship into their designs to evoke emotional resonance and cultural reflection.
Whether it’s a tailored project for clients or an independently developed design concept, STUDIO SHAKESHAKE approaches the background, process, and details of design with the same rigorous attitude, committed to creating innovative and meaningful works. The studio’s goal is to harness the power of design to create user experiences with profound social significance and cultural value.

Simone Colombo

graduated from the IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Milan. A strong advocate of free thinking, he draws creative inspiration from a wide range of sources,
maintaining a childlike curiosity and a spirit of exploration. His skill in hand drawing allows him to perceive and develop new design possibilities, which he then refines through expert use of software, resulting in a highly personal and engaging style.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with major Italian design firms where he gained a solid foundation for establishing his own studio. In 2016, Forbes recognized him as one of the top 30 European creatives, celebrating his talent and originality.

Huijing Wu

is an emerging Chinese designer residing in Italy, with an international perspective and a solid educational background in design. She graduated with full marks from the Master’s program in Product Innovation Design at the Polytechnic University of Milan. Under the mentorship of French designer Marc Sadler and Milanese curator Luca Fois, she gained a profound understanding of Italian design methodologies. Subsequently, she served as a project manager for several design firms in Milan. Over nearly a decade of international project experience, she has accumulated rich and unique expertise in areas ranging from home brand strategy planning and product system development to furniture and product research and development, as well as spatial design.
